Earlier this year my good friend Carenza Hayhoe asked if I would be able to create two new book covers for her next books in The Greyhound Trilogy. We have had several meetings about what would be a good fit and feel for the books. It was decided to use the same greyhound and cat but to have them in two very different settings.
I was able to use an existing drawing I had for the dragonfly cover which I adapted to fit the scene. The birds on the second book were drawn from scratch choosing to use a pair of flying black headed gulls which we see quite often off the coast of Weymouth and Portland and I find a lot more attractive than the common herring gull or black back. It’s always exciting and interesting to work alongside different creative people as this can stretch and pull you in different directions. Carenza has a clear view of what she wants and this makes life so much easier when designing something for a client.
