Over the last few months I have been experimenting with new ways of applying my slips onto my thrown forms.
I usually apply my slips using sponges but am enjoying the feeling of painting and blending the slips while they are still wet. This new application process has given me a deeper connection with my designs and I'm planning to refine it over the next few months.
Above is the finished piece after the sgraffito has been applied. The birds will fire a lovely bright blue and green and the magnolia tree flowers will fire a yellow and orange. Its always exciting to work on new designs and these handsome parrots really caught my eye due to the colour of their plumage and body shape.
