Inspiration for this piece was taken from this amazing butterfly from the Amazon which only feeds on the large red Amazon passion flower.
Every unique design has been created by hand with love, care and attention to detail.
This piece has been thrown on the wheel, left to slightly dry and then goes through many different techniques using drawing, carving, clay slips and sgraffito to create the intricate designs onto the damp clay surface.
The decoration continues across the base which is a very unusual and distinctive feature of my ceramic art. Each pieces takes many hours and no two will ever look the same.
This piece measures 12cm high / 7cm wide / foot 3cm / 294grams
