Inspiration for this piece was taken from the bright and colourful Blue rumped parrots from Brazil and I placed them in a native wild flowering magnolia tree.
Every unique design has been created by hand with love, care and attention to detail.
This piece has been thrown on the wheel, left to slightly dry and then goes through many different techniques using drawing, carving, clay slips and sgraffito to create the intricate designs onto the damp clay surface.
The decoration continues across the base which is a very unusual and distinctive feature of my ceramic art. Each piece takes many hours and no two will ever look the same.
Once completed these are left to dry for a few weeks and fired twice in an electric kiln during which I have selectively glazed the main themes leaving the rest of the decoration matt.
This vessel will not hold water.
