This wall art piece has been thrown on the wheel using a very white stoneware clay and while it’s still damp coloured clay slips have been applied to the surface. I have then taken a sharp tool and drawn the outline of the skink and leaves and carved back the clay surface creating lovely 3D effect. 
The decoration on the skink and leaves has been drawn on using a technique called sgraffito with extra colours being added to highlight the reptile and leaf colour.
Once completed the piece is left to dry and fired in an electric kiln during which I selectively glaze the main themes leaving the rest of the surface matt.
All of my wall art pieces have a unique hanging system which has been made from high quality MDF and attached using a clear araldite. The piece will arrive with this back already attached and has a D ring and 4 rubber feet for hanging on your wall. 
Each piece I create is unique and takes many hours to complete by hand.
