I have decided to part with this much-loved early piece of my work and have reduced the price from £700 to £550. I love fancy fish and the Ryukin is a very delicate but large handsome species of fancy fish. This piece is a little different from my up-to-date work as it’s a subtle hue of several red and oranges instead of the contrasting greens of the weeds and the colours of the fish
Every unique design has been created by hand with love, care and attention to detail.
This piece has been thrown on the wheel, left to slightly dry and then goes through many different techniques using drawing, carving, clay slips and sgraffito to create the intricate designs onto the damp clay surface.
Only the fish have been glazed leaving the rest of the piece matt.
The decoration continues across the base which is a very unusual and distinctive feature of my ceramic art. Each piece takes many hours and no two will ever look the same.
