Workshop description
Throwing and making workshop 1-1 This is a very unique opportunity to learn from me 1-1 in my studio on the potters wheel. You may want to either have a go as a total beginner or brush up on your skills on the wheel. You may have an idea of the piece you wish to make or just go with the flow. All abilities are welcome and I have the knowledge to take you through how to throw a cylinder, bottle, plate, bowl, dish, flat wall hanging, how to throw a mug and pull a handle, also how to put the pourer on a jug. How to turn and how to decorate using slip colours. You will not have a selection of different glazes available to finish your pieces instead you will be using handmade slip colours and one clear glaze. There are 12 beautiful slip colours for you to choose from as well as different tools and needle applicators to use. You do not need to have any experience with clay and you do not need to be able to draw. We will not be doing any coiling or hand building. After the first workshop if you choose to come back you will learn to turn and tidy your pieces and then on the third workshop, we can then decorate them with slip colours. Or you may want to book several to focus on throwing and not necessarily have anything finished to show for your time. The sessions are totally up to you. If you would like to book the two sessions together you will get the half an hour break between the two free making your workshop 3.5 hours for £90. Once pieces are dry I will bisq fire them and I can either glaze your work for you or you may book another session to glaze them yourself. Once glaze fired I will notify you when it’s ready to collect. All materials and time is included in the price of £45 with extra postage added if you wanted any finished pieces posted to your home address. The workshop lasts for 1.5 hours and is held at my shop 31a Straits Portland Dorset DT51HG Please note parking outside my studio is limited to half and hour so please use the parking maps on this page.
